She was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Ministry/Movie and received Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes. Tolman's guest role in The Mindy Project, playing romance novelist Abby Berman for two episodes, was announced the same. In 2015, Tolman had a supporting character in Michael Dougherty's comedy-horror film Krampus. Tolman turned down several parts in the supporting roles like best friends, wives, and mothers following her first big role on Fargo. The actress was searching for a unique role. In 2017, Tolman starred in ABC's Downward Dog, based on the Animal Media Group web series which was cancelled following one season. Tolman was a part of the ABC drama Emergence. It premiered on September 24, 2019 but ended the show after just one season which ended on May 21st, 2021. Despite the fact that Tolman tweeted it received "pretty decent" ratings.
